The 17 Day Diet -- Days 26-28

1/26/11

The scale said I lost another 0.7 lbs overnight. It's nice to finally see a little momentum on the scale. I still haven't consumed my full 64oz of water in a day. I wonder if it would push the number higher. I didn't go to the gym today. After yesterday, I thought I ought to give my body a rest. Plus, Tom has come down with the virus, and the boys have been whinier than usual, so I need to conserve my energy. I did feel better this morning, so I went and got myself a much-deserved haircut and brow wax.. I had wanted to get it done as a reward for completing the first 17 day cycle, but as you can probably see, I'm a little late on that.

Breakfast
hot water w/lemon
sugar free oatmeal
orange
Lunch
yogurt
sweet potato and shrimp soup
lettuce w/balsamic vinegar dressing
Snack
apple
Dinner

That pesky virus is still hanging around and I'm not in the mood to work out or even eat much. All I want to do is sleep, which isn't exactly practical with two kids in the house (See why here...). I've also quit drinking the green tea. It was curbing my thirst too much--and now without it, I'm able to get a whole lot more water in. I had been feeling better the last couple of days, but today I was much worse and after grocery shopping this morning, spent the rest of the day in bed. I even went off the diet for dinner--had 1/2 can of cream of chicken soup--(at 70 calories and 2g fat, it was hardly a splurge) just because I didn't want anything but soup. Despite all of that, today I lost 0.2 lbs.

Breakfast
hot water w/lemon
yogurt
1/2 orange
Lunch
chicken deli meat
roasted brussels sprouts
light yogurt
Dinner
cream of chicken soup

I would probably get well faster if I could just get some $%^$! sleep. Last night John woke me up screaming 5 different times in the night. Once because he wanted his music on, once because he couldn't find his full sippy cup, then again when it was empty and he wanted more juice, and twice to find a cookie that'd he brought to bed with him (wasn't eating) and couldn't find. Tom had taken cold medicine and was in deep lala land while I made repeated trips up and down the stairs between midnight and 2am. Then, climbing into bed with us this morning, John headbutted me in my already repeatedly-headbutted, conjested, and already-hurting-incredibly nose. Add to that a dog poop disaster of epic proportions all over the dog, all over the floors, and eventually, all over me, and I'm *this close* to shoving my head in a bag of Doritos. The only good thing to come out of my morning was another loss of 0.4 lbs.

Breakfast
hot water w/lemon
sugar free oatmal
light yogurt
Lunch
apple
ground beef, black beans, fat free sour cream, salsa, sprinkle of parmesan
Snack
light yogurt
orange
Dinner
hamburger
brussels sprouts
tomatoes w/ balsamic vinegar

  1. Hey Brittany,
I'm enjoying reading your blog. As you were writing about all the water we are all "supposed" to drink each day, it made me realize that I rarely get enough water. So, I have been doing my own "water challenge" for the last few days. I drank somewhere between 64-75 oz the first day and the next morning I'd lost 1 lb. The next day, I didn't drink nearly that much and I was up a lb. I really think there's something to drinking a lot of water. Anyway, I just wanted to Thank you for reminding me to DRINK, DRINK, DRINK my H2O. Best of luck.

  2. I need to drink more water. I am enjoying your posts about the diet. Do you like brussel sprouts? I have never had them and am scared by their reputation. I hope to try them soon, maybe with garlic. :)

  3. yes, the roasted brussel sprouts got me too! I'm trying to drink lots of water too (currently drinking wine as I wrote this - it's been a long day with my mum, and I need to knock the edge off. It's excrutiating having to minitor every half pound, but.... needs must.

Keep going, keep strong!! keep us posted.
