The 17 Day Diet -- Days 17-19

1/17/11

It's the last day of cycle 1. Man, I'm looking forward to a little more variety, even if it's only allowed every other day. Kira was here today and tried my chicken burgers. Later, when she was at BJ's, she found mediterranean chicken burgers with mushrooms, roasted peppers, and feta (200 cal 9 g fat)--for the same price as the ones at Sam's. So our new plan is to each buy a package at our respective club, then split the package for some variety. While Kira was here, we also tried to make my stuffed cabbage recipe. We modified it even further than I expected, by adding crushed tomatoes to the meat mixture and then putting more crushed tomatoes on top of the stuffed cabbages in the pan. That's going to be lunch/dinner tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to it.  Didn't get any kind of a workout in today, and I feel antsy for the boys to go to bed so I can get one in, but my legs are still sore from this weekend/yesterday so I'm going to do an arm workout and call it a day.

Breakfast
2 hard boiled eggs

green tea w/Truvia

yogurt w/ cherry preserves
Lunch
chicken burger
half a bundle of asparagus
green tea w/Truvia
Snack

Dinner

I woke up this morning to several inches of snow on the ground (with sleet/freezing rain predicticted for later in the day). School was closed, and since I didn't need it, Tom took the van to work. I feel better about him being on the roads in the bigger vehicle. After I had breakfast, I shoveled our sidewalks and brought a couple of logs of firewood in from the woodshed. That was quite an arm/shoulder/ab workout! I can definetely tell that all this working out is paying off because I easily shoveled the sidewalk and six months ago I would have pooped out halfway through. Our across-the-street neighbors invited us over for a last minute dinner, and since I wasn't 100% sure how long I'd have to cooked my stuffed cabbage for, I went for the known entity and took my beef/black bean chili, even though it was after the 2pm cut-off, because it was still a better choice than eating homemade mac and cheese. I love impromptu dinner invitations (we've had two already this week) but I know it would be easier for me if I had more meals planned/made ahead that I could grab on the fly.

Today the roads were pretty dicey but I went to the gym anyway. For the first time ever I was able to run a half mile nonstop (not breaking it up with walking). I felt like I could've done more, but opted to leave it at that for today, and go to my body sculpting class, too. To say I'm pooped would be putting it mildly. I'm a little frustrated with my scale because it's not moving in a downward direction lately. Trying not to pay a lot of attention to it, because if I keep working out as I have been, I'm going to lose the weight. Got to remember to drink my water and green tea. I've decided I like the chai a lot more than the raspberry pomegranate and I'm out of chai. Saturday morning my neighbor and I are going to try a spinning class. I can't wait!
