How Apropos

I just got rejected by Agent #1. She said she couldn't get the book's narrative style to resonate with her as strongly as she would've liked. I'm not even sure what that means, except that it's time to query new agents.

In the meantime, this is what Sam was up to in his room...

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any shittier. How perfectly apropos.

  1. Wow, that is a bad day. I don't even know what to say other than I feel for you. I know this won't go over right now, but I'm impressed with you for going to the conference and making that connection. You may have been rejected, but I haven't even tried in at least a year.

But that room. Ugh. How much of that are you throwing out? Not Sam, I hope. He's mischievous but washable.

  2. oh my, what a day. sending hugs your way...

Oh goodness, Brittany. I'm so sorry. I am very proud of you, though, for the previous post. Your writing will always be a huge talent for you. I don't know how I'd feel to have to put something like that "away" for now, but, you're right, those precious kids of yours will only be little for such a short while.

Oops sorry. That last post was from me--Amy

Wow sorry about your day but maybe you got the worst day of the year over with now? :) At least you could see the horror enough to document it. Tomorrow will be better.

Oh Brittany! You have had a shitty day! I am so sorry! As for your other post about "abandoning" your writing for now, I know how important it is to you but I know you won't regret taking the time with Sam and John. You are an amazing writer but even a more amazing mother! XOXO Nicole

  7. Oh yes... the VERY FIRST TIME Sam pulls a "you never do anything for me!" I am going to whip open this page and explain to him, in gorey detail, exactly how long it took to scrub down his room with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and the lengths I went to to scrub each individual Thomas toy with a scrub brush instead of pitching it all straight in the trash!

I can't get over the comic timing involved here. Who but me is scrubbing poop off a door when she gets her very first manuscript rejection ever? No doubt The Fates are wetting themselves laughing at me right now.

  8. oh my. at least you are finding the humor in the moment of another doot day. i'm sure sam will appreciate seeing this public display of his poop when he's oh, about 13.

    one agent, one idiot. ;)

Oh, my! I think this most definitely qualifies as one of The Shittiest Days of all time. I really feel for you. Good grief.

Sorry about the agent, too. You WILL make the right match. Don't let it get you discouraged.

I love your comments! They make my day.
