Today I went in for my 24 week appointment. John is kicking up a storm and growing right on schedule. By some miracle, I've only gained 10 lbs (according to the doctor's scale--ours at home says I've gained more) and I'm starting my seventh month tomorrow. I celebrated with a trip to McDonald's. I shared my fries with Sam. Here's an odd little tidbit about Baby Boy. He will eat pounds of broccoli in one sitting. But I can't get him to swallow a single bite of a fast food hamburger. The fries, however, appeal to his discerning palate.
On the novel writing front, things are going well, but not as briskly as I would've liked. There's a chapter I'm postponing in order to do some further research. No doubt, the librarians at the local library have me on some sort of watch list. I can't blame them. So far I've requested books on Christian marriage vows, glossolalia (speaking in tongues), and southern appalachian snake handing practices. I know anyone who reads this is probably dying of curiousity about what the heck kind of chapter I'm writing... guess you'll just have to read the book. :-P
As always, I *thought* I had a good outline for the rest of the book, but as I started writing, chapters began distinguishing themselves, so I have more chapters than I originally thought. It doesn't change the amount of writing I have to do, but somehow it pleases me to think that the book might end exactly on chapter 50. Anyway, I wrote another chapter today. It was long and involved and took a couple of hours. The next few chapters should be shorter and less complicated. I still want to meet my deadline of finishing this book tomorrow, so I'm probably going to stay up well into the night writing some more.
Hopefully, I will have good news to report in the morning.
