The last weekend in October, I am going to the South Carolina Writer's Workshop annual conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. It will give me an opportunity to hear great lectures on all things writerly, as well as 20 minutes for a critique/pitch of my book with an editor or agent. There's so much to do to get ready for it. I've chosen to have an extended critique, so I have to submit a very polished 30 page sample of my book as well as a very persuasive 1 page synopsis of my novel. EEK!
Luckily, my local NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month - which is November incidentally) support group (called The Rough Dafts) has several members also going to conference, and we are branching out to form a conference-going support group. We're meeting this Saturday to start the synopsis/sample polishing project. I can't wait to see everyone again. We always laugh until things shoot out someone's nose or someone has a laughing induced asthma attack. Good times. :-P
By some miracle, I have gotten to chapter 11, and I know how I'm going to proceed with my main characters - FINALLY. I just have to write it all down. And this is no small task seeing as how Sam likes to come up beside me and pound on the keyboard as I'm typing.
We've gotten him his own set of keys, his own tv remote, his own calculator... I am drawing the line at his own keyboard. :-)
